30th June, Week 9

This is our last week for term 2. We are officially half way through the year…

We have heaps of children away- well it feels like heaps! Several are already overseas on holiday-and Izzy is off later this week!

Remember to farewell Ash and his family when you see them. They leave us for 2 years at the end of this week.

If you are heading away early for the holidays please let me know.

Early next term there are parent/teacher conferences over 3 nights. The dates are 29^th & 31^st July and 6^th August. Booking information will come home shortly. At these meetings we can talk about the social and academic progress your child is making and goals for them for the rest of the year.

Tomorrow we are off to watch the Redcliffs School Production. We will be gone from 11.30 until about 2.45. We will therefore have an early lunch at school before we go. Please make sure your child has lunch at school as ‘Lunch on line’ won't be here in time.

There is a Mufti day & our shared lunch on Friday

Home and School Learning -Independent Inquiry

This is for our independent inquiry. We will work at school and home.
Please choose ONE to learn and teach about.


Please help your child choose one area they are interested in learning about.
They will need to share their learning with the class early next term.
They can present their learning in a range of ways... in a booklet, newspaper report/ article, speech, powerpoint, movie, poster, model... or any other way that shows their understanding.

Explore the effects of violent weather on people and their surroundings. Include statistics about the short- and long-term cost of this	Investigate how scientists predict weather now, then predict how scientists will control weather 25 years from now. How will that affect people?
Investigate and report on any aspect of weather and how it affects people that interests you. Present your information in a way that other students will learn from	Research then describe the job of a meteorologist and compare it to when your parents where young
Investigate  farmers almanac and how accurate they are and what affect does this have on people	Use websites to create models of Weather instruments used to predict and read weather signs.

Week 8 23/6

Welcome to Week 8

Next Friday has been set aside for Ash’s shared lunch. This is also the last day of term. Please send a long a plate of food to share on Friday 4^th July.

Ask us about Matariki- 28^th June, and what sorts of clouds we can see in the sky. We are becoming experts!

Next Tuesday  (1^st July) we will be travelling by bus to Sumner School to watch a matinee performance of Redcliffs School Production. We need 3 or 4 helpers for this. Please fill out the form coming home today & send it back if you are able to help. You can either come on the bus or take your own car. I know they have worked very hard to get this ready and have had to travel from Van Asch School to use the Sumner School hall regularly.  Won’t it be wonderful when we get a hall too!

There is optional & additional home learning this week. It is the sheet coming home about Matariki!

Ash    

Ash's hobbies is tennis and drawing on peoples faces.  He also likes swimming and singing. His favourite colour is pink, blue, green and red.

Ash  has brown hair and brown eyes. His smile is big. He has light red lips. He has smooth  hair  that is on the side.

Ash is kind and funny and friendly. He also takes care of the environment. He is a good friend. He is helpful. He does stuff for me.

Klarissa

My friend Klarissa has black, shiny, silky hair and has sparkly earrings. She does no have much freckles. Klarissa also has brown coloured eyes. She has a small nose. Klarissa loves to have a plait in her hair. 

Klarissa is a bit silly. She loves a slice of  chocolate cake. Klarissa loves anything that is blue and purple. She hates drama, but Klarissa loves to travel. She loves to feel relaxed and to be a friend to nature. Klarissa's hobbies are art, singing and she loves to swim and likes to play tennis.

Ashleigh

Ashleigh has long blond hair with brown strips.She has sea blue eyes like the waves sparkling in the sun.She is very tall and has pale ski. She has the biggest smile I have ever seen. She has a little sister Salisha. She does ballet. Ashleigh giggles and she is is very kind and friendly. Ashleigh is as cute as a kitten. Ashleigh is not shy.

His brown eyes glow in the wind. His freckles shine in the sun. His brown short hair blows in the rain. He has long shiny nose. Ash's lips are as glossy and red as a tomato.                                                       

Ash loves to play rugby and he likes it to it makes me laugh and smile. He likes to play tennis and it would be fun and it makes him fizzy.

  

He is as bubbly as a bubble. Ash is as frindley as a cat. Ash draws on peoples faces, it is so funny! Ash is kind, he helps people when they're hurt. 

Ash is friendly to little kids.

Enzo has chocolate brown hair and blue eye colour. Enzo has a tan with white teeth and a little pink toungue. Enzo is four foot tall and 32 centimeters wide. Enzo has a little nose that has wrinkles when he laughs. 

Enzo is as really funny as a clown. Enzo is as kind as a kitten. Enzo is a good friend because he always will let other people play with him .

Enzo likes playing soccer and he likes swimming. Enzo likes reading and likes relaxing in his spa . Enzo likes eating sausages.
